Max fell in love with agave spirits during his 10 years spent working behind LA bars, and solidified that love by taking every opportunity to experience mezcal and tequila's production first hand.

Maxwell Reis is the beverage director at Gracias Madre, which has locations in West Hollywood and Newport Beach. Max fell in love with agave spirits during his 10 years spent working behind LA bars, and solidified that love by taking every opportunity to experience mezcal and tequila’s production first hand. When he’s not in Oaxaca filling water bottles full of mezcal, he’s in Los Angeles, preaching ethical agave practices and making some of the best cocktails in the city.

In this episode of How Do You Do? Podcast, Ben asks Max to share how he's developed Gracias Madre's zero-waste beverage program that's proven to be better for both the environment and the restaurant's bottom line, how he sources ethical agave producers and how we can do so in our own liquor purchases, how he creates cocktails, and more.
